Hey girls,
Just wanted to share my internal experience as some of the ones I read on here had me totally freaking out.
Had my first one today at 38 weeks...it literally took 20 seconds and was barely even uncomfortable. So...just wanted to give you some hope that it's not so bad :)

I always wonder what some doctors do that hurts so much and is so bad. Mine are always stick two fingers in the vagina, press gently against the baby's head and feel the bounce-back, tell me where I'm at.
I bled after my first last pregnancy (I'll have my first next week this pregnancy) but none of them ever hurt at all.
Glad you had a good experience!

I saw stars at my first internal-it was aweful.
The second one was tolerable-2 different doctors.

It hurts less if you relax and push hips down, just like a regular exam.

I wonder the same - to the extent that I wonder if I'm actually getting an "internal"! I mean, I never enjoy having a doc inside me like that, but it's never been painful to the point of even being noteworthy.

The only time my internals hurt was when they were trying to speed things up, and that made me see stars!! Other than that it was a quick check, slightly uncomfortable, but no pain.

I had my first the other day, and if anything it was just uncomfortable because I was tense from being nervous after hearing so many stories about how horrible it is. But afterwards, I was surprised that was all it was. It was just like an internal at a regular yearly checkup. The speculum is more uncomfortable. I hate that thing!
