Can i get another lawyer once im in contract

My lawyer really just annoyed me. I call him to ask him something and he seems annoyed and tells me he is leaving for vacation tomorrow; like that should have any impact on answering what i needed. Once i get it he rushes me off the phone; i call him right back cuase i realized i needed something else and he didnt pick up!! Now i am even more annoyed. Annoyed enough that i really think i want a new lawyer though im thinking at this point since we are in contract and he already ordered the title im kinda of stuck.

As the client, you are always entitled to terminate your employment relationship with your attorney at any time. This does not happen all that frequently in real estate transactions, but it is your right. You would likely be responsible for payment for the amount of work done thus far and will be responsible for payment to the new attorney for the future work.

Honestly, I think it's going to be more trouble than it's worth for you to switch. I would stick with the one you have, even if you don't care for his personal style of communication, as long as he is adequately handling the transaction.

But since you are unhappy with the communication level/responsiveness of your current attorney, why don't you speak to him and let him know?

Perhaps he would be more responsive if you made him aware of what your particular expectations are, and find out if there is a good time of day to reach him with questions, or if there is a preferrred method of communication (email versus phone)? Maybe he even has an associate or an assistant who could be available if he isn't.

Also, if you've been happy up until now, perhaps you just caught him at a rushed moment, when he was tied up with another client or something, and he will be getting back to you.

thanks!! I was really just annoyed i def. know it will be more trouble than what its worth. I just get aggravated cause i am very laid back barely call, just go with the flow. I just didnt appreciate the one time I did call i get an attitude. Christine you are probably righ the may have been in the middle of something.
