Recaulking the bathtub
anyone know how to do this? I just moved and the bathrooms are only a year old but the caulking between the tub and tile seems to have some spaces. Anyone know what i need to do to fix it?
Thanks

Re: Recaulking the bathtub
They sell tub & tile caulk at HomeDepot, Lowes etc. It comes in different colors and clear etc. You apply the caulk between the cracks and smooth it out with a puddy knife or your finger (where clothes). Wipe away the excess with a damp cloth. Read the instructions on the tubing it comes in for directions and drying time.

Re: Recaulking the bathtub
I just recaulked the bathroom this weekend, LoL. I just bought a tube of caulk from sers hardware, and smoothed with my finger and paper towel. very easy.
I also will put the caukl strips over the base of the tub, gives a nice finished look, I did this with my downstairs bathroom also, I like the clean lines.

Re: Recaulking the bathtub
I just did this recently but didn't realize if the previous caulk was silicone you'd ahve to use silicone based again or else it won't stick.....learned the hard way!!
I actually posted here about it if you want to search for the thread.
But I'd just play it safe and buy a silicone caulk and use that. It's really easy to use.

Re: Recaulking the bathtub
Also - try to remove as much of the old caulk as possible. You can use a straight-edge knife to score it and use a screwdriver to pry it out. Just be careful not to scratch anything.
