How much for an up do?

Maybe I'm just out of the loop because I haven't had my hair done at the salon for a while, but my SIL just emailed me that my up do for her wedding is going to be $105! Is it just me, or does that seem really high?

This is what I want

Re: How much for an up do?

it seems a bit high I think for my wedding mine was $125 of$150 and the girls were in the $75-80 range.

*searchng email*

Ok for my wedding in 2011, the hair was $85+ for the girls and makeup was $75 for regular and $100 for airbrush.

I think $105 is a bit high, but not astronomical.

ETA: Actually it's almost 25% more than what my girls paid. is it because you're MOH and getting something super fancy?

I think its a bit high. My friend had her BP do updos last week for around $65 and I know that was super cheap. I'd say around 85 is fair.

How much for an up do?

That's high. Updos for my wedding start at 65. I'm the brides and that's all it's costing me.

Technically I'm not even in the bridal party, but I'm going with them for hair because my SIL asked me to. She called the salon to ask, they don't even have any idea what I have in mind. And it's not overly elaborate at all. Chat Icon Now I'm wondering f I shoud pick something crazy to get my money's worth. Chat Icon Just kidding.
This is actually what I want. I even did a practice round on my own, but it wasn't nearly neat enough.

I would say 60+ seems to be the norm. $105 is a little high if it's just a basic up do. If you're having something that requires more time/work it's usually more money.

my girl's hair was $100, but that's because all but 1 had very long, thick hair. The one with shorter hair was only $75

That's so pretty!

It's more work than it looks like though because they will most likely have to set your hair first, add a piece in the "bump" part, etc. I don't think it's necessarily less work than other updos. I still think $105 is a lot for starting price.

Re: How much for an up do?

depends ...if they wash blow and then do updo thats average. if you come in with dried clean smoothed hair and then put up...i would say 60-90 depending on length and thickness

That's A LOT!! Where are you located? try going to a different salon and NOT telling them you having anything to do with a bride. Just you going to a wedding. I bet you the price will go down! Chat Icon

We live in White Plains. I actually had an appointment elsewhere by my SIL asked me to come with her, so I cancelled my appointment and she made one t her salon. I assume they think I'm part of the bridal party.

And I bet you that is your problem right there! Every time the word "wedding' or "bridal party" comes up, vendors drive the price right up! If your SIL is so set on having your there with her can you at least ask her to explain to them that you are NOT in the bridal party and ask them to lower the price?
