Did you take any classes?
I am delivering at Winthrop. I am undecided about taking classes. Any you guys recommend?

Did you take any classes?
I'm on the fence too! DH thinks it's a waste. I've read about 4 different books and watched 2 documentries of labor & natural delivery that he doesn't know what extra info the class can give me. I might just get the Laugh & Learn DVD i see suggested on here and call it a day.

Did you take any classes?
DH and I aren't going to take a birthing class - i just don't think it's worth our time
I'd like to take a newborn basics class (where they teach you how to take care of a baby) but i really don't think we can with our work schedules.

When I was pregnant with my DD I took a breast feeding class, infant/child CPR, and lamaze with the hospital tour. I did the Lamaze class in one day and it was so awesome. Wasn't just about Lamaze. Went through everything to expect when you deliver, went over pain meds, tools, c section, etc. Very informative. And the hospital tour was so fun. It was nice to see where we were going to be and it made it all very real and exciting. I recommend taking the tours, it's worth it IMO.

I ended up not taking any classes with my first and it worked out in the end. Any breathing technique was told to me by the nurses. I learned more in those hours than I could have hoped for

Did you take any classes?
With our first, we took a L&D class but it was 2 hours one night a week for 5 weeks. It was really wonderful for us because we had gone in wanting to try for an unmedicated birth so it was good to understand a lot about what goes on at every stage and have a plan for how to handle it. It also made us feel "in control" even just to understand every option there is along the way (many that you don't get to choose on your own, either) so we could prioritize what was important to us and be ready for a split-second decision when asked during the delivery.
The nurse during labor & delivery was amazing and wonderful, but I don't think we would've been able to accomplish meds-free without having taken a class. That said, I think if you go in knowing you're going to get the epidural, it's probably not necessary and you can just get coached through it as it happens.
