Can I do something about this??
We are flying to Seattle for Thanksgiving. I booked early because the flights are always super .
I booked non-stop going and coming - we will have DS who will be a little over 2 years old. So I just wanted to board the plane once and get off at the end of the trip.
I get an email today that we now have a layover in Utah for 40 minutes. The thing is we also have to change flights - we have new seats, a new flight number and a different aircraft model.
I'm just anoyed about this - this will now get us in at midnight. The time change plus the late arrival is really going to take a toll on DS.
I paid extra money to have it direct. Can they just change our flights and not even credit me any $ back? Thats an $$ week to fly. If I wanted to save money I would have orignally booked a multiple stop flight.
This is with Delta fwiw.

does delta no longer offer non-stop service to that destination? if they do still have flights i would call up and have them switch you to the non stop flights. if you have another option (direct flight from another airline) i would call up and tell them you want a refund - let them your travel plans will not allow you to get in so late (or some excuse) and book elsewhere
im not sure how accommodating they will be but if you dont call you will never know your options

I would definitely call them and try. I've found that typically when an airline makes a significant change like that, they will waive change fees for you to select another flight.
Good Luck!

Delta changes flights constantly, most often they change the time. Is the direct flight still available or did they take it out of rotation ? Honestly, 40 minutes is not a lot of time for a layover to switch planes, especially with a toddler. Give them a call, speak with a supervisor and see what they can do for you.

I agree - and SLC isn't the smallest airport.
They did the same thing to me a few years ago when we were going to Cabo - they decided to stop direct flights heading there. They were willing to change me to another flight free of charge but, they had me on the best option and the prices on other airlines were substantially more.
