yes, benadryl is safe. Here's a little cheat sheet my doctor gave me that I found useful

All I know is I was suffering terribley a few weeks ago and my dr's office told me absolutely nothing, no benadryl, etc.
The only thing they allowed me to use was a saline nasal spray. Every dr is different... I would check with your dr.

I was told nothing in the 1st tri, Claritin and Zyrtec were ok starting in the 2nd.
Every dr. is different, so I would call. Feel better!

Every Dr has different rules. My dr told me REGULAR claritin was fine, as was REGULAR zyrtec but NO benedryl (or salicylic acid over 5% in facial cleaners)
