I love my Ergo. Comfy even with a 25 lb toddler in it. Can be used from newborn with an insert (I used a folded up blanket though) all the way to toddler, front or back
A ring sling may work for you too.

ITA. I have a Baby Ktan also and loved it, esp when DD was small.

Re: slings
for your DH I would recommend the Ergo...you can try one on at BRU or BBB.
I find that I use my ring sling A TON...every day. My DS weighs nearly 30 pounds and gets heavy! I highly recommend the maya wrap for both infant and older babies.

Re: slings
Agree with the Ergo, I love mine.
If you are looking for more of a ring sling..I also have the Baby Balboa one by Dr. Sears,,,it is fantastic.
I interchange with both, DD is 3 months :)
