Going bananas about where to stay @ Disney. Please make a decision for me and know that I despise bad bedspreads.
Here is the thing:
We don't stay in our hotels that much. We tend to just sleep there.
For our upcoming trip, we are going for 8 days. I don't know what I was thinking, but last time when we went for 5 days, it wasn't enough. We were rushing around too much.
So, this time, we want a day to relax at our resort.
I have done Shades of Green (military resort-wasn't impressed)
and Pop Century.
I found the room at Pop to be kind of icky.
The carpeting always felt moist and I have an irrational fear of badly-themed hotel rooms that look like they are right out of Miami Vice.
Bear with me.
I was looking at some hotel rooms on tripadvisor.com and some rooms looked like a flamingo exploded all over it. I just can't do it.
That being said, is it worth it for someone like me -- who only will sleep @ a hotel -- to splurge on Animal Kingdom or Wildnerness Lodge? Is it worth it to stay in a deluxe?

Who is in your group? Little kids, big kids, no kids?
I'm the kind of person who spends NO time in the hotel room, though I think on my upcoming 10 day trip I'm going to have to crash for a day.
I have done lots of stays at the Value resorts, including Pop Century. I don't get at all grossed out by the rooms, but after MANY trips there, DH and I have moved up.
For me, the biggest reason to choose a Deluxe (since I already told you I am at the parks 24/7..I stayed at Beach Club with the most incredible pool and never so much as dipped my toes in it), is location. I LOVE Beach Club because of the short walks to EPCOT and DHS. We're staying at the Contemporary in October for its proximity to MK. I LOVE being able to walk to a park. it makes it so easy to take breaks and get home after a long day. If the deluxes were remote, I'd say no way. Animal Kingdom Lodge is an exception because it has the INCREDIBLE Savannah and awesome dining, but I haven't made any plans to stay there yet because it's just so far from most parks.
For you, I think Coronado Springs would be a good balance. it's a convention hotel so it has really nice bedding, it's not cheesy, and it's a moderate price point.

Yes - I think it's absolutely worth it for you to splurge and stay at WL or AKL.
I don't want to sound like a snob, but I've never stayed at anything but the deluxe resorts at disney. When I started going there as a kid, it was all they had. As an adult, I had my favorites that we would always stay at (WL, GF, Poly) and then I bought DVC.
That being said, you stated you didn't want over the top theming and you wanted to spend a day at the resort relaxing.
I think WL would be perfect for you. It's one of my favorites. I love animal kingdom lodge but don't stay there unless we are renting a car.

Coronado Springs was booked solid for the week we are going.
But I think I've reached a decision. You've convinced me to splurge on a deluxe. I just needed to be assured it would be worth it.
Thank you!

I always take the bedspreads OFF the bed and put them in the closet. They don't wash those in between guests anyway, and it skeeves me out big time!
My favorite deluxe is the Yacht Club. I like the theming, the location, and the faux sand bottom pool is great.

I call them sperm blankets and do the same thing. We actually just stayed somewhere that had white duvet covers and I felt so relaxed!
