pedicure question?
I go to a nail salon that is sort of on the pricey side. It's very clean and the staff is extremely nice. I have been going there for about 8 years. They have three kinds of pedicures- regular, special and spa. I usually get the special because it includes a longer massage and they get rid of my dry skin issues.
I have noticed the last few times that the massage is not enjoyable to me. It has been different ladies but all of them rub so hard it hurts. The foot part is fine but the calf massage is actually painful. I went yesterday and today my ankle is sore to the touch like I have a slight bruise. I found myself wishing it was over as she was doing it, then I forked over $50 plus tip
Does this happen to anyone else? Am I just too sensitive? Would you say something or just start going to a new place?

Re: pedicure question?
I would say something once, but if it was not good after that I would find a new place. If there is one person you like, I would book with them only.

YES - I've had them where i was in pain. Definitely say something and see if it improves. I think I'm very sensitive to this though- i don't even really enjoy regular massages b/c i find them painful!

Re: pedicure question?
Unless someone is licensed I dont let them give me a massage. They can easily hurt you if they dont know what they are doing. Usually the manicurists at nail salons are not licensed for massages. Not sure if yours is but I would check.
ETA: to answer your question, its not normal to have bruising after a massage

I havent had bruising but i do find it painful when they massage hard. I just wince and say its too much pressure and they ease up and its fine.

Same. I am very sensitive when it comes to the leg massage but I just tell them to lighten up the pressure. It usually is much better after that. Except for one time at the Cactus Salon in Plainview. I was nearly in tears and he just didn't understand what I was telling him. It was horrible.
