Dr. Elissa Rubin—totally turned off by her office

So I called Dr. Rubin's office to set up a meet and greet appointment. The receptionist (rather rudely) told me, "Dr. Rubin's schedule no longer allows for meet and greets, all the information you need to know is on our website."

Excuse me? What? Does the website answer my very specific questions? Does the website allow me the opportunity to see if her personality and demeanor are the right fit for me?

So I expressed that I'm not comfortable with choosing a pediatrician without the opportunity to meet them first and that their very own website even suggests a meet and greet!

She then repeated, "All you need to know is on our website."

Really? I don't think so!

Obviously, I won't be choosing Dr. Rubin.

Bummer because I heard so many good things about her. But this new policy tells me all I need to know.

Sorry you feel that way!

But TBH, as a parent of a patient of the office, everything you need to know really IS on the website, and her schedule really IS jam packed. If my kid was sick but couldn't be seen right away because of scheduled meet & greets, I'd probably be put off by that. She really devotes as much time as the parent/patient needs at the appointments. I'd rather her time and effort be put in in that context, as opposed to meet & greets. But this is JMO in retrospect.

People I know that use her either love her or hate her. Maybe FM some LIF mamas that are patients and see what they have to say?

We use dr. Rubin and love her... And I have to agree with the pp who said that her schedule really is jam packed, bc it is. But having said that, I always get sick visits the same day, well visits are at a convenient time for me (evening hours!), dr. Rubin answers the phone during off hours for emergencies, and responds to email questions for more routine matters.
Having come from another pediatric practice aon li where it was difficult to get seen, and the drs never even remembered my kids, I am super impressed with dr rubin and company.
Also, her website is really fantastic! It is worth taking a look even if you don't go with the practice.
I should add that I drive all the way from long beach to see her!
