Roller Derby Sept 29th
Strong Island Roller Derby has a Bout coming up in Saint James if anyone is interested. It's on Sept 29th and the tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door kids under 8 are free. It's something different that's going on in the area.

Yes, I am on the team and totally love it. I started 6 months ago with zero skating experience and progressed very quickly. We are a new league that has only been around for a year so we are always looking for skaters, refs and volunteers. If you are interested you should come check out the bout on the 29th. Our next open recruitment is October 20th. Let me know if you want more info!

I would say that this sport is similar to taking kids to watch hockey. It's a full contact sport for women. I know that when most people think of Roller Derby you think of brawls and slutty girls skating around. That's not how it is at all. Yes some do wear fishnets with their uniforms but there are a lot of rules and requirements in order to play. I would say the crowd that attends is certainly diverse, but not inappropriate for children. I will be bring my 2 girls to see me play on Sept 29th

I went to a bout last year it was so much fun. I too had a desire to join but didn't have the time to commit. You could definitely bring your kids Barb.

YAY! It should be a fun time. You can bring chairs and sit rink side or there are bleechers. The arena sells food (or u can bring your own) and Port Jeff Brewery will be there serving beer. We will have a table with shirts and other SIDR stuff.

My friend & I had a great time with our girls...and I'm such a dope, but looking back, I think I took a pic of you with my daughter & her friends at halftime & didn't realize until after that it was YOU!!! (Must have been the cool makeup that had me fooled ;)
You are an incredible skater/athlete, I was truly impressed with you & all of Strong Island Derby Revolution!!!

Thanks for letting us know about it! Next time, we'll have to get closer to the edge. My son wanted to be up front but I was trying to respect the 18 & over rule.
