How to compare OOS schools to NY schools
We're considering a move OOS, and am wondering about the schools. How do I find out how they compare to NY schools? When I looked on the "Report Card" for the schools in that state, they compare them to one another, but I want to know how they are compared to NY standards. I know there won't be a way to set NY as the standard, but is there a way to compare that state's standards to another state's?

Re: How to compare OOS schools to NY schools
I teach in Florida (3rd grade) and there are pockets of good schools and pockets of not so good. My school is an A rated school and also the #1 school in the county (out of 200 or so) with test scores. Its getting competitive as far as jobs which is good because it means you are getting qualified teachers. My county runs very similar to NY and the standards are very high.

I bet if you post the area(s) you are considering on here, you will get some decent feedback.

I always looked at graduation rates. City-data is a great resource too. Use their advanced search to type in schools in x place and then choose the forum you want to search by state and area. I live just outside of Raleigh if by any chance you are thinking of that
