One of the more kid friendly cruise lines like Disney or RCCL.
Beaches resorts or other beach resorts that have kids clubs and activities

Or a reeeeally nice cruise like Royal's Oasis of the Seas or Freedom of the Seas - something like that, those boats are amazing!

Not sure if your family is into roller coasters and stuff like that, but my family used to go to Virginia Beach in the nice weather.
We would stay at Virginia Beach for a few days and then go to Busch Gardens, Kings Dominion and Water Country.

LOVE Atlantis!!!
I've been there 3 times, and last year we did a big family trip with all the cousins. The kids ranged in age from 1-10 (my son was 2.5) and they all had so much fun! I highly recommend it!

We are about to take our 2nd cruise on Celebrity. We are going on the Summit out of Bayonne to Bermuda. It is a great ship. My DD#1 loved the fun factory last year and we had to drag her kicking and screaming out of it! Kids do have to be potty trained though to go into the pools. You just drive up to the port in Bayonne and they take your bags from the car - no flying - easy to bring whatever you need since there are no flying restrictions. Nice cruise for the adults, the girls are excited to go play in the fun factory (they do a ton of activities). It is 2 sea days down, 3 days in Bermuda and 1 sea day back. The beaches are nice for families, safe island. NCL and RCCL both also sail to Bermuda in the summers as well.

I second the idea... Without a DOUBT Oasis of the Seas is a GREAT vacation for children and adults. They have a a lot of everything for everyone. Went Summer of '11 and LOVED IT. You can take advantage of the Pixar Characters onboard, iceskating, etc... Plus in one of the stops you can stop in Atlantis and take the kids. But they can find all that within the cruise. Also, Bucsh Gardens I heard was a good place.

What time of year? We just got back from Mt Washington Resort and it was great for us as adults (I can't wait for kids to be older to do more) and lots for the kids.
I imagine if you like snow sports, it would be equally nice in the winter

We went to Atlantis twice with our kids, once in 2007 and again 2010. We had the most spectacular time in 2007 but were very disappointed in 2010. We felt that it got way too expensive (and it was pretty expensive to begin with!) and that the service, food and value that you got for the price had decreased drastically. We had a good time but we won't be returning.
We went to Aruba with 6 adults and 5 kids in July and that is a place I will continue to go back to. Everyone had a blast and the good and service were terrific (we stayed at the Marriott Surf Club. My sister was at the Ocean Club and I liked that better. Last year we stayed at the hotel and Stellaris Casino which was also great but not as family oriented.)
There was plenty for the kids and adults to do, do much that we still haven't done it all!

As a Disney person I have to correct and say that Royal Caribbean has Dreamworks characters (Shrek, etc), not Pixar characters.
Sorry, couldn't let that go!
Disney has some special Pacific Coast Pixar Cruises!

My friend is a fan of Club Med Sandpiper in Florida. They have kids clubs starting at 4 mos and his kids love it.

I think any family friendly all inclusive resort would be fun! we stayed at Now Sapphire resort in riviera maya last year. We went as a couple, but there were plenty of families. It seemed like the kids were having a great time!
