We are not having flowers. She is making something for us but won't tell us what it was - just asked us a bunch of questions. She doesn't care what color!

I'm surprised the bride didn't suggest a color of choice... Either way, I'd go with something subtle and nice like black or silver/gunmetal grey. I wouldn't do anything bright or flashy even though it's fashion-forward, since you are in a wedding you don't want to look like you're taking away anything from the bride.
