xpost: who got a dopper and from what co.?

I want to rent a doppler for one month only so my parents can hear the heartbeat. however.............

I am reading that the FDA requires you to have a doc's prescription, and most of the online companies don't require doctor consent and are therefore illegally renting!? (fines are apparantly $16,500 for illegally using medical equipment?!)

who rented one, from where, and did you ask your doc first? was it worth it?

I used heartones.com and no, I never asked my doctor first. You didn't need a prescription for it, the company was a reputable one, and I've honestly never heard of that FDA law before. I never had any issues and I loved the doppler.
