For girls who have to wear a suit to work...

I'm a lawyer but my office is business casual, so I don't have to wear a suit every day, but of course anytime I go to Court I need to wear a suit. When I'm about 7 months pregnant I expect to have a trial that could last for 2 weeks where I'll be in Court every day. I am already baffled about what I am going to wear. Can anyone recommend a place with maternity suits? I feel like I'm going to go broke because I'll have to buy at least four of them. Sigh.

I've gotten away with a dress and blazer...but you could pair separates if you can't find a suit. I had trouble finding one. Maybe Pea in the Pod has them.

I would wear the same pencil skirt & blazer with a different top each day instead of buying multiple suits.

Black maternity pants and skirts and blazers a little larger than your usual size. Maternity shells or blouses under. It'll be fine. Jury/judge will totally understand. Talk to some other ladies at work or in court who have children and they'll help too or even the court clerks/staff. They've seen it all.

when i had court appearances I wore black dressy gap maternity pants and my regular black suit jacket - no one knew it wasn't a matching 'set'

trial or not, i personally don't think it's worth the expense of buying a "maternity" suit.

Could you continue wearing your pre-pregnancy jacket throughout the entire pregnancy? I'm wondering if the jacket is just not going to fit at a certain point.

I wore my suits to work throughout my entire pregnancy - both times.
I used the bella band for the pants and obviously couldn't button the jacket -

On days I was really uncomfortable, I wore a dress with a jacket -

have you tried the band? It was my BFF

I am an attorney, and at 9 months can still wear my pre-pregnancy suit jackets, can't button them, lol, but I wear them a lot with dresses or pencil skirts and tops.

I have been finding that there's a lot of leniency with the court personnel and other attorney's. I think as long as you look polished, even at trial, it's ok to not be wearing a matching suit.

If I was going to be on trial, I'd probably do wrap dresses with a couple of different suit jackets mixed in.

Gap Maternity stuff is nice, I have a few prs of dress pants from there as well as dresses and ATL Maternity dress pants also have worked well for me. Good luck!

Yes I was able to. It got a little tight across the back but it was fine (obv couldn't button either, lol)

Good to know - thanks everyone! I'm not out of the closet yet here at work but I hope once I am some of my coworkers may offer some of their maternity professional wear and that my pre-pregnancy jackets will still fit!

I had the exact same issue workingin a super conservative environemnt. I had to wear suits. I got by with maternity pants and a matching blazer (non maternity) from my regular wardrobe. I wore a lot of dresses as well.
I refused to pay $250 for a suit jacket that Id only wear for a few months.

Im working from home these days but while I worked (up until 7 months) that's what I did.

Good luck!!

I'm an attorney as well. I wore some of my regular suits for a while, but I found the maternity pants so much more comfortable than using a bella band with regular suits. I ended up buying a few suits from A Pea in the Pod. They were pricey, but I got most of them on sale.

There's also a website - minefornine.com, where you can rent maternity clothing. I was looking at it for a dress to wear to a wedding, but they definitely had business suits. It seems to be well reviewed although I have not placed an order personally.
