Should I register?

I'm hoping you girls can offer some honest opinions Chat Icon I have a 3 1/2 y/o DC and am now 25 weeks pregnant with Chat Icon Chat Icon . I have so many generous friends offering "seconds" of items (i.e. swings, bouncers, etc). I have a few friends asking if I've created a registry and I'm sort of on the fence about it. I wouldn't tell people unless they asked and would only put on smaller items that I might need....but I'm not sure if its tacky to create a registry when I had one for DC. WWYD?

Re: Should I register?

A lot of people on here have created registries with their second/third children simply for the completion bonus. If someone buys you something, great. If no one buys you anything and you want to buy stuff for yourself, you'll have a completion bonus and get a discount!! It's a win-win. I think it's only tacky if you create a registry and start telling everyone in the world you have one and expect gifts!

Should I register?

Yes, register.

Do it for the discount coupons. Stores don't care that you've ever registered before! And it's totally worth it for a little break on the prices (they mark stuff up so much anyway).

I made an amazon registry because they give you 10% off and I fully expect to buy everything I want from it on my own. We're having a small family "baby-q" at our house next weekend and DH has told his friends who have asked that we're not expecting presents (I know a few of my friends will bring presents because they've been asking if I'm having a shower/sprinkle and want to buy stuff). I'm fine either way! I certainly won't refuse gifts for our son, but I'm totally not expecting anything either!

But having a registry -- at least to me -- doesn't mean you're expecting anyone to buy from it. That's IMHO.

Agreed!! I love going to baby showers... I have a few cousins who have had 2 showers and I didn't have any issue with going and buying something. I would have done it even without the shower and at least I knew what to get instead if buying something they didn't need.
