Introducing myself here

Hi Ladies.

Just wanted to introduce myself because we are unfortunately making the move from TTC to Infertility.

Background:

Off BCP close to 4 years - using no form of BC, just avoiding ovulation.

Actively trying for 1 year.

Had Lap & HSG: Showed Endo and a diseased left tube that could not be fixed.

July Bloodwork showed:
AMH 0.20
FSH - I can't for the life of me find that paper, but the number was good
All other tests from OBGYN are normal

Saw Dr. Stelling of RSofNY for the first time Wednesday.

He doesn't like the AMH, he's re-testing it, they took tons of blood for hormones, genetics, etc. I go back CD3 for another round of testing including another AMH and also another test that will give him a better knowledge of where my ovaries & eggs are - insurance doesn't cover it, but I want it anyway. This way we will know what the best treatment options are - if any.

He originally said Chat Icon w Clomid to up my eggs bc with the 1 tube, I Technically only have 6 months a year to conceive naturally and with 1 little egg, it's even less of a chance.
Once he realized what the AMH said, he said IUI w Clomid 2 MAYBE 3 times max before he'd want to go straight to IVF.

He doesn't want to discuss his plan in length until we have the result back of the new AMH and this other tests.

DH is getting SA done Next week.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the board! Hope your stay is short.

Just wanted to clarify something. Just b/c one of your tubes is bad doesn't necessarily mean you have 6 months out of 12 to conceive. Most women don't ovulate from the left side, right side, left side every month. In fact, I found out I normally ovulate on 1 side 2/3 of the time. Just saying... When your RE monitors you, you'll have a better idea of which side you ovulate from and when.

Also, if clomid doesn't work, I'd urge you to try a few rounds of injectables with IUIs first - unless IVF is covered by insurance. I would only ever make 1 follie on clomid but on injectables I made 3 and that was the trick.

Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks for the advice.

Yea the 6 months out of the year thing was a quick way of me explaining what he said. He said it can go the way you are saying as well. Hoping its not the "bad side" that goes a few times in a row.

I don't know how ready I am for all of this. Plus with DH ALWAYS working, I'm going to be alone for most of it.

Kristy - you may go from walking buddy to RE buddy real fast! Chat Icon

Welcome to the board!!!!

RSofNY is a great practice (Im partial bc Ive been with them for years)
Dr. Stelling is sooooo sweet and brilliant BTW.

I hope your not here too long and we get to see you on the Preg. after IF" board next. Good Luck with your testing and I hope you get the answers and protocol asap.

I agree with AP, clomid IUI and pending response then do injectable IUI's before going to IVF---less invasive and expensive...... :)
