What color for kitchen cabinets/counter???

I love white cabinets, with a dark corian or granite counter. Someone told me that it makes your house less desirable when you sell, bc not everyone likes white cabinets.

What color combo do you have in your kitchen?

It is true that, while white cabinets are pretty and popular right now, some people have very strong opinions on white cabinets - they either love or they hate. But, you have to do what you really like.

My parents completely renovated their kitchen last year - it is beautiful! They did a nutmeg/caramel-ish cabinet with a cream colored granite that has bordeaux and dark brown specks running through it - it's very rich, very french-country and traditional. I really love it, goes so well with the farm sink they chose also. They matched the pop of red in their backsplash too by going with a mosaic tile above their stove - God, I really should take pics and post them on here one day, it's such a nice looking kitchen.

ETA: there are pics in my albums under "Our Home" of my kitchen - the people we bought from did a nice cappuccino color with a beach glass backsplash. We have, since the pics were taken in my album, put SS appliances in, which we like better. The countertops are a very dark grey granite. It's nice, we're happy

We just bought a home and are doing a complete overhaul. I am doing antique white cabinets with a creamy color granite called colonial dream. Our island will have the same granite color but a diff cabinet color, a dark chocolate. Honestly I am doing what I like which is pretty mainstream, and very updated in a neighborhood where everything is old and needs to be redone. I want to enjoy living in my first home and plan to live in for around 8-10 years and then upgrade to a larger home. Plus our home is not huge and I want a bright kitchen. If I had a much larger home I would be doing espresso color cabinets which I love but in my space would be way too dark.
I would do the white if you really love the look, but stay away from weird colored countertops.

I have natural maple and a black/blue granite. I love it but it's not for everyone.

My parents almost always had white cabinets.

They did it with a black granite in the past and now have it with a light color granite. Both looked great and they had one of the kitchens over 10 years ago so white cabinets are not a new trend (my parents are not cutting edge so they def were not ones to be ahead of the curve)

I'm doing tan color cabinets and tan / brown (almost black) granite.

White/antique white/cream cabinets are very popular right now, and personally, I like that look. When I renovate my kitchen (wishful thinking right now!), that's what I would choose.

If you are renovating your kitchen with an eye toward selling your house immediately, I wouldn't do it. You never get your money back, and people have different tastes, so a buyer may or may not like what you do. But if you are renovating because you want to and plan on living there for awhile, I would just choose what YOU like. White is not so risky or taste-specific as to null the value of your improvements in the kitchen.

I would, however, choose granite if you can, rather than corian, if you are thinking resale value. Granite's more appealing to buyers than corian, although corian does look nice, too!

We have cream color cabinets. I forget the exact name. Our granite is Baltic Brown. It is a mix of black and dark brown and I think the color combo is perfect.

We have esspresso colored cabinets and kashmir gold granite its like cream with blue veining and tan and brown speckles throughout. You could check my albums for pics.

Do what you like. Everyone has such different taste that it is hard to judge.

When we remodeled our last kitchen, we never had the intention of moving. We did a style we liked. It was cherry would with a Kafe stain, which was a shade lighter than expresso. It was dark! Everything else was neutral as far as tile, counters and flooring went. The appliances were stainless. When we put the house up, everyone loved the kitchen. Even my father who thought it was to dark originally , loved the kitchen when it was done.
