hmmmmmmm...UPDATE
So I wrote about how I had a + blood pregnancy test on Wed that ruled out my gall bladder surgery, but when I got home I pos and it was neg Ths morning it was neg too. The test was a yes/no in the hospital so i'm going for a quantitative HCG today.
My question is how can the blood test in the hospital be + and the home tests neg?
Updated So I am not pregnant! Apparently I have a very rare antibody that will always show me as pregnant on a yes/no blood test. If you do a quantitative test it is less then 5 and so is the urine test. I had the gall bladder out at 5pm tonight and am home now recovering. Thank you ladies for all the support. We're a bit bummed we're not expecting, but so thankful I could have the surgery. I had a bite of chicken last night and that set off another attack. I go back in 1 week for another procedure since I have a stone stuck in the duct, but I'm doing well now.

Re: hmmmmmmm
I don't think this is that surprising. I would think you're probably very early on and a blood test is more sensitive than a urine test. I would be surprised if a blood test was wrong unless you have some other reason to have hcg is your system (meds, prior pregnancy). I hope you can stop wondering soon!

Thanks. No meds that have HCG as we have never done fertility tx's. I would have to be super early. I'm just so confused because I JUST had AF on July 26 and we always use protection. We're very happy and excited to have a 3rd, just really really suprised since it took OPK's and 6-9 months to concieve both our other kids.

how long are your cycles on average. If you last AF began on 7/26 - you are about CD20 today. It would be near impossible to get a positive at CD 20 if in fact you DID have AF on 7/26

I have no idea. I have only had 4 cycles since my son was born and all 4 have been different lengths. I just don't know how a blood test could be wrong? I'm so upset. I asked them to redo it and to be sure but the surgeon refused. If it was a false + I am going to be pissed. I desperately need my gall bladder out

could you have had implantation bleeding 2 weeks ago? Not AF? Even if that was the case, you would like get a + on A HTP 2 weeks later. GL!

A + blood test is an hcg of 5 or more....then doubling approx every 48 hours. The hpt's don't read hcg that early. I used an internet one with DS and had a SUPER faint line and my hcg was 69. The Dr was surprised the home test read that early. I would either see if you can get the #'s from your bloodwork from the hospital or contact your Dr and have another blood draw for hcg.
Good luck!
Eta, just re-read that blood test in hospital was a yes/no. In that case get a quantitative hcg like you said. Or wait another 4-5 days and poas again.

They looked at all the blood work ever done on me and in all the yes/no)qualitative) test I have tested +. In all the HCG(qualitative) tests they are neg as is the urine. I am NOT pregnant, my body just produces an antibody that is perceived as HCG and so I will always test + on a yes/no hospital blood test even if I have no HCG. I guess it's a really rare thing and I am only the 2nd person they have ever seen with this. So in the future I have to have the actual qualitative HCG to r/o a pregnancy. Does that make sense?
