I am planning on taking public transportation to/from the airport. Flights are at night, so for those that know SF, what is the better/safer station to go to....

Powell Street or Civic Center?

I will be staying north of market, but in between those two stops. I read online that south of market street (tenderloin district) is kind of sketchy, and I realize i will be having luggage.

so any advice for which station is better/
