Re: BTDT Moms, how long after delivery do you feel physically comfortable enough to rest/sleep? (esp after C-section)
I could sleep after the c-section. It was getting up and moving around that was difficult. I had an eaiser recovery the second time around. I could get up from bed and move around without any issues around 2 weeks PP. Before that, I was still in a bit of pain. I stopped taking any pain medication around 8 or 9 days PP.

Re: BTDT Moms, how long after delivery do you feel physically comfortable enough to rest/sleep? (esp after C-section)
When I got home from the hospital after my C-section, I slept on the couch for about 1 week. I was scared to lay flat in my bed - that it would hurt or that I wouldn't be able to sit up again. On the couch I was propped up like the hospital bed which made it easier to get up and down. I only took Motrin for a week PP.
I felt my best while in the shower. I was so scared that the water & soap would make my scar sting but honestly, it felt so good to shower.
I remember walking around hunchbacked for a while - maybe a week or two - and my upper back burning (like when you've been on your feet for a really long time). By April 1 I had my first night out with the girls and was fine.
If you have help, take it. Focus on your recovery and soaking in every second of your newborn babies. It truly does go too fast. Good luck!!

i have a vaginal birth 2 times and i felt fine afterwards. I didn't even have to take motrin or anything else. The first night i was too uncomfortable to sleep because of all the bleeding. The 2nd night, no problem.

Re: BTDT Moms, how long after delivery do you feel physically comfortable enough to rest/sleep? (esp after C-section)
In the hospital I was able to sleep with help of sleeping pills and pain meds. Once home sleeping was bad for me. I know everyone is different. I have a girl friend who had no problems and never took pain meds after 3 different c-sections. I had to play with pillows to get comfy enough to doze off but once I coughed, sneezed or had to turn over I was awake and in lots of pain for about 3 weeks. everyone is different so its hard to judge. I had a girl friend who had twins and felt great after they where out. She went to 38 weeks. She said the pain was better once she did not have to carry two babies.

Re: BTDT Moms, how long after delivery do you feel physically comfortable enough to rest/sleep? (esp after C-section)
I had an emergency c-section and my DS was in the NICU so I felt that my recovery took a little longer since I had no time to rest. I only took tylenol when I got home when needed but I did use an ace bandage to wrap around my stomach to help with the pain and it helped a lot. The nurse actually gave me a belly band that they had at the hospital. I had some side muscle pain that lasted for a month and the doctor explained that they cut through so many layers that each one has to heal. I think I truly felt better after a month or so when my son came home from the NICU. I think each person is different and you just have to go with what your body is telling you. Have help if possible and don't push your self to do things too soon.

I could only sleep on my back for a few weeks after both my c-sections, it was too uncomfortable for me on my side. My pain wasn't too bad either time though.

Re: BTDT Moms, how long after delivery do you feel physically comfortable enough to rest/sleep? (esp after C-section)
By week 2 after c section, was feeling much better, and sleeping well. The key for me was to move around early, and fight through the pain the first week. If I stayed still for any perios of time, it made getting up and around again more difficult. But really , I never thought the recovery was all that bad..

I'm 9 days PP with a c-section. Honestly, it doesn't hurt to sleep/rest at all. It hurt me more to stand up and walk around. If you find you're in a lot of pain than take the percocet or just motrin.
ETA: I'm not in any real pain at all right now. I think some experiences are more extreme than others. Occasionally I'll feel a tug of pain around the incision but nothing to make me wince.
This! I am 11 days post CS and as far as sleep goes, I have no problem sleeping. Not like I did when I was pregnant. The only uncomfortable part for me right now is that I can't sleep on my stomach yet. I only took Motrin in the hospital and took it twice when I got home. Never took the Percocet.
