Would you make another appointment?
Went in yesterday (cd 10) to RSofNY for bloodwork and sono. The doc said my follies were 12mm.? I don't remember the exact number. Anyway he said to schedule my IUI for the day after the positive OPK. Now they ordered me a HCG shot. I have no idea when I should even be doing this.......should I make an appt for another sono? I usually O around cd 15. Thx

Is the hcg shot for this cycle or next? With rsony my first month I did iui just with the opk. The 2nd month which is this month I was monitored via sonos and dr Halfen told me when to inject myself or if I bought the shot with me they would have injected me and had me come in the next day.

I asked the nurse and she said they order it early so I have it (for this month)
I'm extremely confused andante I don't feel like I'm getting much guidance.

are they not monitoring you closely? when I did IUI's I would be told the exact day to take the hcg and then the IUI was the following day...usually my follicles were between 18-20mm before trigger

You don't have to make another appt but definitely call them to get some clarity. If you get a + OPK that means you are already surging, so why would they want you to trigger? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I don't O, so the trigger is necessary for me.
I am a patient of RSofNY too, and I really feel like I need to hound them for answers. You should do the same... they really need to be clear on the process, especially if it's your first time!

My appt for monitoring was cd 10 which I felt was early. Last month I only had one appt and it was cd 13 I didn't need to go back bc I triggered that night.

ita...i know a few who did the trigger alongside the opk..i would tell them u want to come in the day u get the positive to confirm and then trigger that night
and when u get the positive u r not surging then...u will be surging in 12-36 hrs
just keep testing so u do not miss it...i am not a fan of using a opk but that is prob bc i do not ovulate lol
if u have been on cd 15 for a bit they prob just want double confirmation

I am a patient there as well and when I have a problem or feel unsure of protocol I call the appointment line and leave a message with a receptionist to speak to my dr directly. I felt more comfortable this way

You normally trigger when your follies reach around 18mm, regardless of your natural surge. This way they can time the IUI perfectly. I'd ask to be more closely monitored.

I had a 10am appt for a prog check and walked out at 10:45 bc they still hadn't called me in.

Which office do you go to? Stonybrook annoys me bc of the lack of miscommunication but I LOVE the Brooklyn office. I opk'd last month and didn't trigger I'm guessing maybe they ordered it now so you have it for next month bc maybe your ins company has given them problems in the past with mail ordered meds. Have you gotten the shot in the mail yet?

Thank you. Yes I go to mineola and I received my shot last night from kraupners. Last month insurance didn't pay bc I didn't know I had to have per authorization. Maybe you're right.

Geez. I mean I know I'm not their only patient and probably low man on the totum pole as far as importance goes but time is of the essence!!!!
