Gd test tomorrow
I have my lemon-lime flavor all ready to go I have to drink it at home at 12:10 for my 1 appt
I know you don't have to fast for one hour and the. Nurse told me to have some crackers right before I take it so something is in my stomach......should I still eat my normal breakfast of scrambled eggs and one piece of toast? Or should I have something else?

I would definitely not eat crackers right before taking it. I'm somewhat surprised the nurse said that. I'm no doctor, nor am I any sort of expert when it comes to diabetes, but I think the carbs will alter your results. If you want to eat in the morning, just have the eggs and some protein, no toast. That's what I'd do, at least. I stopped eating about 10 hours before my test (but it was at 9:30 am, not 1 pm). I had no problem taking it on an empty stomach (not peeing in the hour between taking it and the blood draw was the tough part for me lol).

Re: Gd test tomorrow
my dr didn't give me any diet restrictions before taking it - just not to eat or drink anything after i drank the glucose. i worked there from 1998-2004 as well and remember giving the same instructions then. do what you feel comfortable with... i took my test at 9am so i didn't have breakfast first but if i was going later on, i definitely would.

Gd test tomorrow
I ate my normal breakfast that morning- cereal and a banana. I had a snack later on that day (whole wheat wrap with pb and yogurt). I passed.

Re: Gd test tomorrow
I was told to eat a high protein breakfast before hand, lots of eggs cheese and 1 piece of whole wheat toast. Just try to avoid the jellies and sugars before hand.
Good Luck!!
