FMLA question
i know FMLA holds my job for 12 weeks and my dr said they will fill out the paperwork and give me a return to work date based on 12 weeks after my due date. I am just wondering if FMLA can be extended? Ideally i would like to take off an extra 3 weeks because if I can stay home the extra 3 weeks, ill basically have free daycare for the next 3 months which is a HUGE savings...but i dont want to lose my job. i know i have to speak with my employer about this, just wondering if anyone knew the legalities?

Re: FMLA question
There's nothing legal that will hold your job beyond 12 weeks. That's up to your company.
I know several larger companies offer you the option of coming back later and either using vacation time or taking unpaid time. Some companies offer a modified return to work (work 3 days for 2 weeks, then 4 days and fully return to work at 17 weeks, for example). But that's up to your company. Check your employee handbook. If nothing is in there, try talking to HR/your manager.

FMLA question
are you planning on using any sick and vacation, for my job I was able to use sick and vacation then they tacked on FMILA leave (12 weeks unpaid) after I've exhausted my paid leave.

FMLA question
I am using sick time and vacation time in addition to my 12 weeks. Talk to your employer letting them know what you want to do with that time so you can extend your time out.

FMLA question
definately check with your company. FMLA is only for 12 weeks job security in a one year period is suppose to include any sick time and vacation time or unpaid time...... ( http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/1421.htm )
most companies apply sick/vacation time on the first week waiting period of the 6 or 8 week STD policies. If they allow past the 12 weeks, then its an exception by that company.
