Spinoff- Needing stuff
If I plan on having DD sleep in the Rock n Play in our room do we still need a Pack n Play?
If you have a PNP do you keep it set up all the time?
I know many of you used the RNP for sleeping, so what did you use the PNP for? I'm also registering for a swing, and bouncer.

Re: Spinoff- Needing stuff
from what i was told it depends on the size of your house. if you live in a ranch or apartment that is one level, you dont need both because you can just put the baby down in your room or their crib. but if you live on two levels i was told it is more convenient to have a pack and play too - set up on the main floor so that you dont have to bring the baby up and downstairs every time they fall asleep

We keep the PNP (set up all the time) in the living room for when she naps. RNP is in the bedroom.

Re: Spinoff- Needing stuff
we kept our son in the swing or RNP in our room for the first few weeks.
honestly, we NEVER used the PNP until 7-8+ months when we needed a place for DS to sleep outside the house and he was too big for the RNP.
Now at 27 months, he uses it at my mom's or ILs house to nap or if he sleeps over. We also take it on overnight trips with us.
We never used it in our own home.

I'm getting both. The PNP will be a necessity for when we sleep out of the house. I'm also thinking baby will nap in it, and play in it when it's a bit older.

We only used the PNP in our room to stick her in after she woke up once she was sleeping in her crib upstairs (after 9 months) but still waking up too early for us to want to watch her play. So she really just played in it. But that only lasted like a month or two. She won't sleep in it because it's her "play" area lol. We have a Go Crib (inflatable crib) for when we travel, which I love. For us, the PNP was a complete waste. Now that we're having a second, though, we may try to use it again. We used the RNP for sleeping wherever we were and wherever we went while she was still that age.

DS1 hated the PNP. DS2 isn't a big fan of it either. DS2 has been sleeping in the rock n play. I also have the PNP set up in my room, but I just use the changing table part of it. I put him down in the bassinet part at the very beginning, but he usually woke up quickly and didn't seem happy in there.

We keep the PnP in the living room. DD would occasionally nap in the newborn napper section when she was very little. It was conveneient to change her diaper downstairs instead of taking her upstairs but we took off the changing table when we dropped the mattress to the bottom level. I will stick her in it when I need to clean or do something and I can't watch her. We recently used it for her to sleep in while on vacation and it was great for that. I think it has totally different uses for the RnP sleeper and it can be used for a much longer time frame.

I think so. The rock n play is great for when a baby is really little (like a bassinet/swing hybrid), but most babies outgrow it quickly. DD is 20 months and still sleeps in pack and play when we go away on vaca or overnight to Grandma's.

Thanks everyone. Since we live in a small apartment, keeping it in the living room isn't necessary and not really and option with space.
I think I will keep the PNP on my registry and just save it for when DD is older, or when we travel/visit grandparents.

I have mine set up in the living room downstairs for when DS gets here. I want him to nap in it and get used to the everyday noises of the house and dog and everything around that way hopefully he gets used to sleeping in it when we travel.
