Waterproof crib mattress
If the mattress I'm getting is waterproof, do I still need a waterproof mattress cover?

Yes -- but one of the kind of ones that sorta absorbs but it waterproof. It's just better for when there's pee/poo everywhere and much easier to clean. You don't want to be sponging off a mattress and then waiting for it to dry in the middle of the night.

Waterproof crib mattress
we always put a waterproof pad on it..... honestly I recently googled and there are alot of people who put nothing underneath it.....
These things are all you need though if you want an inbetween layer..
