Have you ever just given up
Potty training? DS has been pooping on the potty no problem for months. He will go pee pee, if I take him, but he often puts up such a fight. If I don't bring him, he would just pee in his pants and not care if they are wet. DS will be 4 next month. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me at all?

What sort of incentives have you used? A sticker chart was very helpful with my first child. Second kid didn't care about stickers.
Putting up a fight is so aggravating and so common. One strategy is to use a timer, and when it rings that means its time to use the potty. Some kids then won't argue as much, because its not mommy who decided its the timer.

Re: Have you ever just given up
I wish I could help but we are going through a major potty training drama with DD She is going to be 3 in October. She has been peeing on the potty since turning 2 but she will only do it at daycare. On top of that, she has been holding her poop and many times will not even go in her diaper Its awful...we have not been doing hard core potty training but just encouraging and giving her rewards for going. She takes the rewards without a problem but if there is no reward, forget it...she makes it known that she is not going to go in the potty Its draining and I seriously worry that one day she will be walking down the aisle in diapers Pediatrician said that its all control and she will go when she is ready. Sorry that I couldnt offer any advice

Re: Have you ever just given up
My DS was like that. He was trained for poop for months, but refused to pee unless he was taken. I think because he hated that he had to stop playing several times a day to use the potty. Stickers, rewards, nothing worked.
A few months before he turned 4, he started preschool and all of the other kids in the class (except him and one other) were trained and wearing underpants. All of a sudden, he wanted to wear underwear. So he was able to stay dry all day, and all night.
So I think it was peer pressure that did the trick! I feel your pain, DH and I were so frustrated with him- because we knew he could do it- he just didn't want to!
