Feel so ill

I know this is probably a common post, but I need to commiserate with others. I feel so sick. I don't throw up, but am constantly nauseated and severely fatigued. I am off until sept. and am seriously concerned how I will make it to work. I live in NYC and can't walk anywhere anymore. I am 6 weeks. I swear that I don't remember any of my friends being this ill. My diet is totally gone. Up until a few weeks ago I ate small, healthy meals in an effort to control my weight and tons of diet drinks. Now the only things that help my nausea are salty carbs. I tend to overeat everything because if it tastes good, my nausea is temporarily lifting. Then, I lay around fatigued because I am stuffed. I guess my issue is that I need a new eating pattern that is healthy, but also subsides my nausea and tiredness. Any suggestions would be appreciated Chat Icon

Re: Feel so ill

Honestly...I feel the exact same way and I'm only 5 weeks! I had the same symptoms with my first pregnancy. The good news is that you probably won't throw up. The bad news is that you'll always feel like you have to. UGh. I'm so annoyed by it. In my experience, I ate and am eating carbs now too. That's all I really want and I feel better while I'm eating. Try chewing on ice cubes. That's been helping me. With my first, the nausea went away around 13 or 14 weeks completely. September may suck but then we're in the clear! Good luck! Hope that knowing their are others in your boat will help!

Re: Feel so ill

first..i am sorry you feel sick! it stinks when ms even without the puking sets in

it is good that u r off till sept..take this time to rest and feel better

if u feel that bad maybe talk 2 the doc about zofran

and imo i would not worry about a diet now..things change when u r pregnant and of course u can still eat healthy but if carbs are making u feel somewhat better then that is what u should eat

listen to your body

Feel so ill

Just remember this is only temporary! You'll start to feel better by about week 12/13.

Re: Feel so ill

Eat what makes you feel better.
Small frequent meals or snacks.
If carbs it is...then so be it! This stage won't last forever. When you are feeling better you can worry about a more balance diet.

Re: Feel so ill

i went through the same exact thing, to a tee. no throwing up, just nausea all day, every day. my diet flew out the window as well - i had maintained 25lbs off for the last 3 years and went from healthy eating and exercise to eating anything i could tolerate, and more than i should have bc eating kept the nausea at bay. and i felt too sick to do anything but lay down after i got home from work. i was lucky and it only lasted until i was about 9 weeks. so, you might feel better by september, you never know. just try to hang in there - it should pass.Chat Icon

Honestly. Welcome to pregnancy. The first tri is hard. I got on a train every day with puke bags. You just have to make yoursself do it. The more you just it around the worse I felt.

Diet. You are pregnant. Your body will crave what it needs so please don't ignore it.

Re: Feel so ill

I had a similar experience, but it did pass. By about 12 weeks i started to feel better and by 16 weeks I didn't have the "dry heaves" (sorry TMI) in the morning any more. Fingers crossed that this will pass for you too!

Re: Feel so ill

If it is really bad, as your doctor about Zofran. I was actually getting physically sick 24/7 to the poingt there were days I could not keep anything down and have no energy to even get off the couch. It was almost scary. Thank God, I am off for the summer, but I have no idea how some people do it.
Once I was put on the Zofran, I still get nauseous here and there, but have not thrown up since. I am 12 weeks tomorrow.

Re: Feel so ill

UGh I had it the worst from 7 weeks til about 12. All I could eat were buttered rolls, buttered pasta and gingerale.
Try getting Ginger Gum (they sell it in the pharmacy section at cvs), that helped a little with the naseua.
I know you have heard this before, but it will get better. I'm 20 weeks now and still ocassionaly get the MS in the morning but the all day naseau was over around 13 weeks.

Good luck!
