Name opinion?
DH and I are debating names for our 2nd . We like the name Talia. I'm a little worried about using it though.
It's pronounced TAL-yah. Think DD2 will have to correct people all the time?
DD1's name is Lila. Are the two names too close?
eta: When I looked it up, it seems that a lot of people spell it Talya (I guess so it's spelled more like it's pronounced). Hm.

Name opinion?
I really really like the name Talia. She may have to correct people but honestly, my daughters' name is pretty simple and people mispronounce her name- calling her MYA instead of MIA. So with that being said, I wouldn't let that sway my decision. What would sway my decision is that the names Talia and Lila are really close. However, people do it all the time and it's cute - so I say if you love the name, GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!

Re: Name opinion?
I like that name. I knew a girl growing up named Talia so I knew how to pronounce it, but I'm not sure about other people who've never heard it before.
I do think it sounds sort of similar to Lila but I don't know if it's that big of a deal.
ETA: I have a name that I'm constantly correcting people and now my DD1 has the same issue, neither one of us care, lol.

Re: Name opinion?
I grew up with a Talia (my rabbi's daughter), so I know how to pronounce it, and LOVE the name!
I think saying "Lila and Talia" does get a little tongue-twisty though.

I don't think they're too close at all. I like your other girl's name better but think this is beautiful too! And I'd totally pronounce it wrong until I was told (which I guess you just did) because all the Talias I know are Ta-lee-ya.

When I first saw it I read it as Tal-ee-a. She might have to correct people.
I do think it's a pretty name though and not too close to your DDs.

I really like it! And I don't think it's too similar to Lila.
Also, fwiw, when I read it, I pronounced it correctly.
The name we have picked out for a girl will also be constantly mispronounced and our little one will have to correct people all the time. I don't care. I love the name, think it's beautiful and know that it's the name for her, so she'll deal.

Name opinion?
i think it depends on who is doing the pronouncing. I have several spanish friends whose names are Talia, although its spelled Thalia. But its all pronounced Tal-ee-yah. So i wouldn't have pronounced it Tal-yah at first unless i was corrected. But, people mispronounce the simplest of names on a daily basis so I wouldn't let this stop me from naming my daughter something i like. i do think Lila and Talya flow a little too smiliar together...

Re: Name opinion?
I love the name Talia. I grew up with a friend Talia and everyone said her name properly. I don't recall her ever complaining that people didn't know how to pronounce her name.
No matter what name you choose, people will mess it up sometimes. But I don't thinK Talia is so far out there that nobody will know how to pronounce it.
