Paying for IF treatments
I am starting to get a little overwhelmed by the cost of everything. I don't have much IF insurance so I am trying to get everything figured out now.
Do you know any sites that help with grants?
Are there sites that donate IF drugs? If so, is there an income requirement?
Has anyone taken out a loan for IF?
When should I start applying for Grants? I am doing my first IUI next month.
Thanks!

Re: Paying for IF treatments
I know how you feel, it's so overwhelming. And what really aggravates me is that insurance companies do not feel IF is a medical condition (apparently it's "elective" surgery in their eyes )
Many ladies have mentioned being picked for a trial through new hope fertility, but you need to meet certain criteria. Hopefully you will be one of them.
Once we meet with our RE, we will be going for a loan. I'm hoping he can point us in the right direction as far as which companies and banks to go through since I'm sure many of his OOP patients explore this option.
As far as the drugs, maybe you can ask your RE if they have any samples, or ask on these boards. The women on here are amazing and very generous.
Good Luck in your journey, and tons of your way!

I have $11k total life time IF insurance. All diagnostic testing, blood work, etc falls under that amount, so it isn't going to last long.
I am not looking for grants for IUI's but if I need IVF I am going to need help paying for it, because if I have any of my insurance money available to me, it will be minimal. I am just not sure how long it takes for the grants or loans to go through. Not sure when or where to start.

$11k is actually really good coverage. I had $0!
First step is to sit with your RE's finance dept and figure out how much things will cost and what steps you'll be taking. They will help you to put a perspective on things. There are companies that will help to finance your IVF, if you get to that point. But again, I think you're pretty lucky to have $11k coverage!

Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for the coverage I have. But when they started to go over costs with me, and I started to do the math I just feel like it is going to disappear quick. Just an IUI with clomid is $500-800.

That is the amount they charge, but I doubt that is the negotiated rate. Our insurance's rate for IVF (not including drugs/monitoring appointments (those were covered by my insurance) and anesthesia) was just over $2k. So you may be able to get more than what you think. We have a 15K max.

11k is a good amount and really should cover your IUI's plus IVF depending on which facility you go to...I hope you dont need to go the IVF route
