Need To Vent!!
I just needed to vent about this.
I hate the billing department of my medical facility!!!
I have been pregnant for 9 months now and the billing has been correct for my medical visits, but a few days ago I received a medical bill addressed to my DAD and claiming I was still on his now non-existent insurance that I had OVER 10 years ago! I have had multiple insurances since then, and they mailed the bill to my current new apartment and they have my name correct with my married name... so why is some info correct and some info so outdated?
Anyway, I call to dispute the bill, because obviously I am not going to pay for something that is supposed to be covered... and they say they are experiencing high call volume, and said someone would return my call within 48 hours. Of course that never happened.
So I call again, and they said someone will call me back within 48 hours... well... in less than 48 hours I WILL BE ON AN OPERATING TABLE GIVING BIRTH!!!!!! so I kind of can't settle this then....
He claimed someone would get back to me today then, but still NOTHING.
I am so frustrated with this whole thing and confused as to how to work it out. I'd hate to be in the hospital for a week, dealing with a newborn at home for another week, and by the 3rd week, if I do even get to deal with this by then... it's like in collections or something...
It's so ridiculous and not something I need to be stressed out about 48 hours before the birth of my daughter!!

Try not to be stressed. If im reading this correctly it's not a bill from your current insurance, just one from a previous insurance co.? Can you contact your current insurance and put them on notice that you received such letter? Tell them your situation, being that you are giving birth in 48 hrs.

*crashing!
You're completely right for being stressed out. You won't go to collections for 90 days so you have some time, mnot that this shouldn't be handled ASAP but just know you have a little bit. Most doctors offices won't send you to collections if you're a current patient anyway. Make a copy of the bill, attach a copy of your current insurance card and a quick blurb about the situation, then mail it with signature confirmation so you'll know they received it. This should get it corrected and it'll be less stressful than having to wait to talk to them and when you have a newborn it's going to be the last thing on your mind!
Congrats on the baby!

THANK YOU! I have decided I will make copies of the bill for myself, but will be sending it back with a letter addressing the issue. Hopefully it'll be worked out and afterwards I won't even have to deal with it.

Re: Need To Vent!!
Make a copy of the bill, send it back to your dr's office with a note telling them to re-submit it to your correct insurance company.
I've experienced many issues with billing from drs offices. They'll fix it.
