Mayan Palace-Riviera Maya

Has anyone stayed at the Mayan Palace in Rivera Maya?

Any reviews would be helpful!

That's awesome! Where are you staying? We went there on our honeymoon too and stayed at Aventura Spa Palace. It was awesome. If you want any tips about the area, let me know.

Thanks! We're staying at the Valentin Imperial Maya. We aren't able to do a long honeymoon right now, so it'll only be 5 days. I plan on spending them all on the beach/by the pool with a yummy drink in hand. Chat Icon

Re: Mayan Palace-Riviera Maya

We own there, but haven't been in a few years (since we had kids.) it's a beautiful resort and the grounds are very well maintained.
There are a few things to be aware of though, the resort doesn't run across the beach, it runs straight back. So you may have quite a walk to the pools/beach. DH and I were pretty far back, but we really enjoyed the walk. There are shuttles as well if you prefer.
The resort is about 30 minutes from Cancun and 15 minutes from Playa. So unless you cab or bus it, you're kind of stuck. The resort restaurants were pretty darn good, but they come with resort prices. T didn't phase DH and I, but I know that's a common complaint if you read reviews. We did the night club trip to Cancun. It was not bad, but nothing fantastic. We much preferred going into Paya. It's a great walking town and we ad some really good and inexpensive meals.
It is a timeshare property. DO NOT attend the presentation. The freebies aren't worth the aggravation. My parents always go on the tours because they like to feel like they're getting something for nothing. I personally think giving up 3 hours of my vacation is just not worth it. And if you love it there and want to buy in, research it when you get home and buy on resale. You will get a better deal then anything they offer you.

And it's a cash free resort. You charge everything to your room. Check your receipts, because I've heard people say they've charged too much. I never had an issue.

Re: Mayan Palace-Riviera Maya

Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to answer. Since we're owners I have been to most of the Mayan Palaces (Acapulco 2 times, Nuevo Vallarta 2 times, Mazatlan 1 time, and RM 1 time) but they are all very similar.

We have a house near the Mayan Palace in Penasco and once decided to get the free breakfast. We had wanted to check it out, but it was quite the spiel. Very nicely maintained though.
