How many 0-3 mos outfits do you plan to stock up on?
I'm trying to get a basic wardrobe ready for when baby arrives and I'm wondering how many 0-3 months outfits I should have (Other than one or two outfits, I'm not wasting time with size newborn).
I like babies in footies and one pieces, so that's what I'm buying, but how many do I need in size 0-3 months? Is 10 enough? 15? I have no clue!
I've told family not to buy me any clothes in 0-3, go straight to 3-6 months or larger instead because I'd like to have the stuff I'll need right away all ready to go before I go into the hospital.
Thanks for your help.

I had twins but for the first 2 plus months they were in newborn and then 0-3 they are still in some 0-3 and some 3 mths it all depends on the size of your baby. I had to go buy preemie stuff for the first couple of weeks.
I like the clothes to fit properly so I would get a few newborn just in case

How many 0-3 mos outfits do you plan to stock up on?
My daughter was born full term and was in nb outfits for about a month. I only had a few when she was born and then a friend sent me a TON of clothing in the mail within a week. I had to stop by a store and buy her 4 more outfits in nb sizes when she was 4 days old, though, before that box came. She was 7 lbs 2.5 oz at birth, but dropped to 6 lbs 4 oz before she started gaining. I probably had about 15 nb outfits in the end and was glad I had every one of them!
I'd say about double that in the 0-3 and 3 m (which are kinda the same thing, depending on the brand). Maybe around 30 outfits/sleep n plays depending on the time of year. For us, DD practically lived in sleep n plays, but she was born in the winter. For friends with warmer-weather babies, they seem to be in onesies all the time. We liked snaps better than zippers and hated having to thread her head through stuff when she was very small (under 3 m old) so we bought accordingly. Of course, we didn't know this until she was here.
Unless you and your husband are really big people, I don't know how you would just skip to 3-6 m clothing. It depends on how large your child is at birth, though, and how fast they gain. My daughter has consistently been the 50th percentile for weight her whole life after that tiny dip at birth. She is still 50th percentile now at 19 m. She's very short, though -- only 15th percentile. I don't know if her height makes much a difference in the size she wears, though.
Depending on how often you like to do laundry and how you feel about rotating through the same few pieces of clothing makes a difference in how much to get. Plan on about 3 outfits a day, accounting for messes, spit-up, peeing, pooping, etc, on things. If you have 9 outfits, you're doing laundry every 3 days minimum. As they get a little older, you may not need as many per day, but your child will be in them longer so you'll want more. I think 15 nb and 30 0-3 is a rough estimate... maybe fewer 0-3 and more 3 m if you're big people and think the baby will be big. Different brands run so differently, though, so if you buy gerber 6 m onesies, you'll probably be using them well before 3 m (they run TINY) -- their nb onesies are really only good for premies. I didn't bother with Gerber and got a lot of Carters, Little Me, and Absorba. I also love Bebe and Vitamins clothes!

Re: How many 0-3 mos outfits do you plan to stock up on?
Thanks for the advice. I'm not skipping 0-3 month sizes, I'm just telling family to skip buying them since I plan on having a full inventory of them all ready to go before baby is here.
I thought 15 0-3 month outfits would be enough, but clearly I need to keep shopping!
Thanks again!

The first few weeks of our son's life he went through 5-7 outfits per day because he inevitably pooped everywhere, or got it all soaked from eating like a pig.

We don't have outfits, just onesies and 3 pjs. DH and I were both big babies so we didn't want to get a lot and have her grow out of them quickly. If she is around 8 lbs then after we are home we will get more.

Re: How many 0-3 mos outfits do you plan to stock up on?
DS wore 0-3 for two months. I kept him in sleep and plays most of the time since we spent a lot of time inside. I was pretty lucky in that we rarely had blow outs so i really only changed his clothes once a day. I have so many outfits that he never got to wear so i would suggest you get a few outfits for outdoors but stock up mostly on onesies and sleepers.

Re: How many 0-3 mos outfits do you plan to stock up on?
I would buy more newborn outfits. DS1 was 8lbs 1 oz at birth and still wore newborn clothes for 5 weeks. DS2 was 7lbs 11 oz at birth. He's 3.5 weeks old and still wearing newborn clothes. I just started putting him into a few 0-3 month 1 piece short outfits this weekend, but he's swimming in most of the 0-3 month clothes.
I EBF both babies. I don't have to change DS2 as often yet, but between peeing, pooping and spitting up, DS1 went through at least 2-3 outfits per day as a newborn. If you don't want to do laundry too often, I'd get at least 15 outfits.

When are you due? I'd buy a few and keep in mind that no matter what you say, people are going to buy you NB clothes.
DD was a winter baby and lived in those one-piece fleece sleep and plays. We bought 5 of them... and once she was born, got a million little outfits in nb size. She was out of them in 8 weeks. She went through 3ish outfits a day, so bank on doing a lot of laundry.
