Coming Off of Progesterone?
I went to the Dr. yesterday and since I am 12w2d they told me that i can go off of the Progesterone that I have been taking. I never really "had" to take it but since i was seeing a RE he told me he would like to give me that extra cushion for the baby. So I stayed on it. My Progesterone numbers were always above what the "Average" was, but not by a whole lot and I haven't had it checked in 2 weeks so I don't know what it is now.
Anyone else scared to go off of the progesterone? I feel like i'm going to do something wrong if I stop them even though I know my OBGYN would never tell me to stop them if it wasn't safe.

Re: Coming Off of Progesterone?
By 12w the placenta is fully functioning so there is no reason to stay on progesterone. Your body is doing what it has to do to support the pregnancy.
Many women come off progesterone at 10 weeks, so I think you can feel confident going off.
Good luck! You'll be fine!

Re: Coming Off of Progesterone?
i was in the same boat, the RE told me to go off at 8 weeks, OB told me to go off at 10 weeks, but stayed on until almost 12 weeks. Its scary but by 12 weeks for sure the placenta has taken over. good luck!!

Coming Off of Progesterone?
my RE had told me that I could stop taking the progesterone at 10w as well ( i stopped seeing the RE at 8w) but when i saw my OBGYN at 9w he told me to conitnue with it until 12 weeks. yesterday he let me know that technically, the placenta has already begun working since 10w and if fully functional at 12w but i'm just a nervous Nelly i guess

Re: Coming Off of Progesterone?
I came off at 8 weeks because my progesterone was pretty high and RE said it only gives you about 5 anyway. Cold Turkey, and everything was just fine

Coming Off of Progesterone?
I stayed on until 12 weeks. My OB said I could get off at 10 weeks, but I figured I would finish the supply I had, plus I was scared to go off. I'm 19 weeks now, and everything is running smoothly!

Exactly this. I was scared too but your body is doing it for you.. no sense in double duty and double hormones!
