If your child was on Nutramagin or alimentum...
DS had mucusy blood streaks stools and after having a sigmoidoscopy, nodules from an allergy were found and was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy.
It took the alimentum about 4-6 weeks to work for him. He went from very runny/mucus poops to creamier greenish poop...
Here's the thing, I still on occasion get a red dot in the diaper...nothing like before. but still there....and I still see mucus. He usually has the first two diapers creamy and the last two are grainier and have some mucus.
The GI said if blood doesn't go away he needs to go on and AA formula..elecare or neocate....My ped said with an allergy you may still see blood sometimes, and that I should try to give him more time to adjust to alimentum...he has been on it now for 6 weeks...
any thoughts?

See that's interesting...our ped said "you should see a new baby within 2-3 days" (ours was crying A LOT--this was about 3 weeks of age). They continued to test the diapers almost daily on the Nutramigin and since we didn't see improvement in his crying and the diapers continued to test positive, they switched him to Neocate after like 3-4 days on Nutramigen.
On the Neocate, there was blood in the stool for another month! They sent us to a GI because of it. But they said because of the damage to the intestines, this could take a while (the GI wasn't too concerned because he was gaining weight). Finally the blood in the stool went away. Even now at 13M, his blood test for the milk protein allergy was "very high". We are on Neocate Junior now. The GI can easily make a case for the AA formula as far as I know.

you need to switch to nutramigen with enflora gg (the powder). It has a probiotic in it. It works a million times better than allimentum and nutramigen b/c the probiotic heals their gut. I was actually able to not go to an amino acid product b/c of this. Made an amazing difference!
