There is a Lansinoh one on amazon that had better reviews then some of the electric ones. Just curious if anyone had experience using one?

I tried that one based on the reviews. I figured I would only be pumping once in a while so why get an expensive pump. Well, I ended up giving in and getting the double electric! it worked okay and I could get an ounce or two but it took a while. It sometimes took me 30-40 minutes to pump and then it was too close to DD's next feeding. When I ran so close that I had to give DD what I had just pumped I gave in.

Anyone ever use a manual breast pump

I had an avent one that I used from time to time.. I thought it worked very well and was less cumbersome to carry than my Medela electric pump

Re: Anyone ever use a manual breast pump

I have a medela one. I use it for when I'm out and need to pump. It works very well. It was perfect when I was on vacation and at the pool all day. I just took it in the bathroom with me and pumped away. Didn't take long either! I use a medela double electric when home bc I EP.

Ok so it's kind of like a supplement for an electric one when you don't feel like carrying that around when you are out. Makes sense. Thanks Chat Icon

Re: Anyone ever use a manual breast pump

I had a medela one (the hosptial gave it for free) and used it when I was out for an extended period of time (like when i went to a wedding, for example). I actually found it more effective for me than the electric I had at home, I felt the suction was better - but man, did my hand hurt the next day Chat Icon

Re: Anyone ever use a manual breast pump

I have the Medela one. I bought it when DD was just born and I was bfing but didn't know if I was going to be able to make the long term commitment to it and wasn't ready to spend $300 on a pump if I wasn't sure it would last. It was just fine but eventually when I went back to work I bought an electric one. If you want to use it daily, I would spring for the electric. If you're a SAHM and it's just for times you might want to leave your DC and have milk for them, I'd say it's fine.

Anyone ever use a manual breast pump

I HATED mine! I used a double electric and was so used to getting 6-8oz after 15 min that when my hand was numb and almost falling off I expected the same....nope maybe an oz. Hand expressing was much much much faster for me. I just always kept a small insulated bag and a medela bottle in my purse if I would be gone. If I was gone all day I always took my pump and never cared if people stared.

I had the double Medela for pumping at home, but I loved the Avent manual pump for out and about. I used it in the back seat of car, public restrooms, etc. LOL

Exactly. Or if the baby sleeps late one morning, and you're super engorged and uncomfortable.

Anyone ever use a manual breast pump

I use my electric at work only. I use the medela symphony (I think) for car rides and at home pumping I need to do. Getting out the electric is way too annoying I think, so I just leave it in my desk.
