Anyone's dc involved in acting?
My DS has expressed an interest in acting. I have no idea how to go about getting him involved. And to be honest, and not just because he's my kid, I think it's something he could be really good at. If anyone can suggest some good starting points I would appreciate it.

How old? Does Kids for Kids still operate? I loved doing stuff with them when I was a kid.

I live in White Plains. He's almost 6 years old. He loves performing and knows when to turn on the charm. I think he may be too young to memorize a long script, but I think he would do well with a small part or a couple of lines in a play/commercial.

Do you have a YMCA near you? They have acting classes/camp.

Most community theaters offer after school programs. I would start there.

Re: Anyone's dc involved in acting?
Here's a site with some classes for kids. I'd start there & see if he's interested. Once in, you can probably get a good idea about more advanced classes from the instructors/parents.
(I can't get LIF to post the link... search under www.artswestchester.org for things to do for kids)
Also SUNY Purchase has summer classes for kids... but looking it over, looks like they start at 7 yrs old. It looks like a camp (full day classes for a short period of time).
Queens college too... also starting at 7 yrs old.

I used to take classes at Queens college when I was little... I really didn't like acting (I remember thinking that I'd love it), but I DID love painting (which was taught by some really talented people).
