Is he ready for a todder bed?
I know this is a million dollar question, but I am at my wits end.
DS will be 2 in Sept, he has always been a great sleeper going in his crib at 7:30, no fight and STTN till 7:30, but for the past few weeks, he is still going down with no problem, but he has been waking up every night around 1:30am, screaming on the top of his lungs and then saying "Mommy Peeez" (That is his way of saying please ) and my heart breaks! He puts 1 leg over the crib and he has yet to climb out, but I don't even think I want to wait till he actually does it and I end up putting him in my bed.
He is at an age where not sure CIO would even work or not, but now that he can talk...I can't bring myself to do it.
I know there are so many different signs to when your DC is ready, but I am just looking for past experience if anyone went through this and making the switch worked.
Thank you

Re: Is he ready for a todder bed?
Totally random answer here, B, but your "wake up screaming at 1:30am" hits home... any chance his 2yr molars are coming in? M has been fisting her mouth for a few days now and wimpering during the night but last night did exactly as you describe but it was "Daddy sttaaayyy".
The leg over the crib makes me think he's ready for a bed because he may climb out, but I'm just addressing the screaming

Not sure, but he is 100% fine during the day, naps, etc.. an it's only happening during the night. I mean we had the ear infection thing, which is gone, so I don't know what his deal is. He throws his lovie across the room first and then the leg goes over

Re: Is he ready for a todder bed?
I would say yes. Once they start putting their leg up over the rail, it's just a matter of time before the climb/fall out. My granddaughter went into a toddler bed at 17 mos. she put her leg on the top rail once....that was enough. She LOVES her toddler bed! Had no problem adjusting. Just have to make sure the room is extra safe since he can now wander around without you knowing.

Re: Is he ready for a todder bed?
i'm one of those weird moms who doesn't know all the parenting "rules"
DS is 23 month and just slept his first night in a regular twin bed. Best sleep we've had in weeks!
before that we converted his crib into a toddler bed at around 1 year. The second he learned how to stand and walk, the side was off.
He likes to sleep sideways across the bed (instead of up and down like normal people do) so we needed the width so he can sleep more comfortably. also, the 4th of july fireworks my neighbors set off outside his window scared him so much he wouldn't fall asleep. i think he became afraid that every time he went to bed they would start again. ever since then we had crying screaming fits during naptime and bedtime. getting a real twin bed solved that. he slept his usual 10 hours without waking up once or having any nightmares.
sometimes being weird does pay off!

Re: Is he ready for a todder bed?
Thank you!!
His crib does convert to a full bed, but we were not sure he is ready for a big bed, so we ended up ordering a sesame street toddler bed for him for $50 and you just use the crib mattress with it.
Wish us luck!
