I made most food for ds and he is the most picky eater ever. I don't think there is any truth to what the book is saying. With second ds I also made his food and he loves everything. Some exceptions, They both had jarred foods like carrots and string beans , and mango.

it totally depends on the kid. But I've never bought a jar of baby food, ever, and my 3 and 1 year olds are great eaters, who will try anything. They both enjoy most fruits and veggies, meat, seafood, junkfood, etc. I pureed only for a very short time. By 10 mo both my kids were eating tiny pieces of regular food, and hand feeding themselves. They don't need teeth for that. I didn't start solid food for either kid until they were about 7 mo. Breast milk was all they needed.

Unfortunately my DH is a very picky, limited eater. He'd be happy to live off of jelly toast on white bread and bacon for most of his life. I, on the other hand, eat a wide variety of foods........
Today I am setting out on an adventure. I am going to make homemade mac n cheese sauce, and going to make a big batch of homemade chicken fingers/nuggets. I have all of these books to make homemade baby food and in the back it talks about toddler food also... !
This is my dh too. especially the bacon. lol
I have successfully made chix fingers and fish sticks, and froze them, so that they become convenient.
I have yet to perfect mac n cheese, but it's getting better....I've been told the key is to just heat the milk so it's hot enough to melt the cheese.
I also make muffins to freeze. You can find super healthy recipe alternatives, but I just make them regular but with a bit less sugar and half whole wheat flour. I figure it's still better than processed stuff with preservatives and HFCS.
Good luck!

I have only 1 child and I made all of his baby food. He is 20months now and eats a lot of foods. He's even had osso bucco, talapia, salad with balsamic garlic bread. He's never even had a chicken nugget. I don't know if my making his food had anything to do with it but he eats a variety of good food!
