First of many questions

So I met with a RE and he diagnosed me with PCOS. I was surprised because although I have irregular cycles and my skin isnt great, I do not present with any of its other symptoms.
He did a sonogram, showed me my uterus and overies and then said, yup, looks like you have PCOS. When I asked him how he knew, he said "I just told you.. The sonogram." although that didn't really answer my question, I let it go.
he wants to put me on clomid, and said the good news is that I will ovulate this month. I tried to explain to him that I ovulate every month, (as my bbt showes clear thermal shifts every month.), but he just kind of shrugged it off.
So here is my question:
If clomid helps people ovulate, and I ovulate every month (even if it is irregular between CD17-CD23) what will it help me with? Will it help me ovulate more regularly? Will it improve the quality of follicles released?

I was diagnosed with PCOS last year at 33 yrs old. I had no signs of it. I got a period every month and according to the ovulation tests I was ovualting. My gyno and RE described it as I was ovulating but did not have a "good" ovulation meaning I needed a little help to get pregnant. I am on Metformin and about to start clomid.

Re: First of many questions

clomid will not help with ovulation..it will hopefully give u more follies to work with but will not make u ovulate or improve it if u do

they could make u trigger to pinpoint ovulation or may just go with reg if that's what they want, and do not worry about ovulating diff times of the month, that is normal

good luck!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Clomid will help follies mature better. He probably knew from the sono because he saw a bunch of tiny follicles in your ovaries which is what PCOS does.

Thanks. I really don't understand all of this. The problem is that I have been doing so much research and have read so many things that contradict each other I don't know what is what.

whats important is that you trust your doctors and the protocol they choose for you. you can research til the cows come home and you will find tons of contradictory info, but hopefully your doctor will explain their reasoning to you and reassure you that the protocol has a decent chance of success.
