Sippy always on the floor

How do I teach my 1 year old that when you are done drinking not to throw it on the floor. Does it out shopping in the stroller. I put it in the cup holder and he'll take it when he wants it then when he's done it gets dropped and he does it all the time in the highchair.

DD ALWAYS drops her sippy cup on the floor, she wants it no where near her food when she stops drinking.

I bought those straps to strap to the stroller. I also did it to the high chair so I wasn't consatantly picking it up and it wouldn't get dirty either.

Eventually she learned to put it back. She s2 now and still does it ocassionally.

Re: Sippy always on the floor

For us, we had to just keep repeating over and over that we don't throw the cup on the floor, and show him an alternative. We used sign with him as a baby, so we told him when he is finished he can sign "all done." Or, he can give it to us. It takes a lot of calm repetition, but eventually they learn.
ETA: Usually after one or two throws followed by a warning, we would take the cup away. Like if he threw it once, we'd tell him that we don't throw it, etc. Then, after another time, we'd say it again and add "If you throw your cup on the floor again, I am going to take it away." Then follow through. That worked pretty well!
When out in the stroller, we always used the Sippi Grip- a lifesaver!! We had a whole bunch of them, and used them for toys, cups, snacks, anything we could! You might be able to figure out a way to use it in the high chair also.

OMG if you figure out the answer please tell me. i seriously believe the my DD actually thinks that the sippy belongs on the floor. she takes it, sips it and throws it. every.single.time.
usually after 2 or 3 times i just put it on the table. when she wants it she points to it. but im always nervous shes not drinking enough so sometimes i give it back and it immediately ends up on the floor again Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I can't figure out how to post the pic here using an iPad buti found someone on etsy who just added a suction cup to the other end of a sippy cup strap. Then attach it to the bottom side of the high chair tray.

I take it away. They learned real quick not to throw it.
Occasionally DD2 does it & I take it & she stops.
