No more cord blood donation?
When I had DD at LIJ we donated cord blood , this was 2007 . We wanted to do the same this time around when I deliver at NSUH , I told my OB last week and she said hospitals don't do it any more.
Did anyone else hear this?

I heard only certain hospitals do it.... I know where I am delivering they don't do it, I would have liked to donate though.

This is my understanding as well. I wish I could donate also, but they don't collect at my hospital.

i was also told NSUH manhasset does not participate anymore which led us to choose banking it privately

I am devastated about this. They just stopped a few months ago at North Shore, however, the told me that LIJ was one of the few hospitals left in the state that was still taking donations. So either they will take it, or they just in the last 2 months pulled out of LIJ too....
eta: just read u 1st banked it at lij and now at ns you can't... that is correct!
