What does this mean - GD Help!
I failed the 1 hour and had the 3 hour yesterday. The nurse said the dr. needs to review the file but basically my numbers were good on the fasting bloodwork and also good on the 1st hour of the test but high on the 2nd and 3rd hour. She said it looks like I am having some issues processing sugars but dr. needs to make the final call if I have GD or not. Did anyone have results like this? I am waiting waiting waiting for the dr. to call back and getting impatient!!!

you are probably glucose intolerant. not full diabetes but have trouble processing it. most doctors offices will consider this gd. In my case it was the same way. They consider 2 or more bad numbers out of the 4 to be diagnosed as gd even if it is only by a few numbers off.

I second this, my doctor considered a high # with 2 out of 4 hourly tests a diagnosis. In my case, my fasting # and 2 hour # were fine, but my 1 and 3 hour #s were high, so I am currently being treated for GD. Good luck!

Re: What does this mean - GD Help!
diabetes center on Monday told me that it only takes failing 2 out of 4 numbers to have gd......
maybe your dr is deciding since it wasn't the first two(which would have maybe passed a 1 hr if retested)

You're diagnosed with GD if you fail at least 2 out of the 4 blood draws even if it's just by a few points. Glucose intolerance is failing 1 out of 4. I had glucose intolerance, which was treated the same as GD. I was able to control my blood sugar just with changes in my diet.

I don't remember exactly, but I failed the 3 hour with only 1 or 2 of the numbers a little high. I was diagnosed as a gestational diabetic because of my blood pressure (it was high and I had other issues too). I tested my blood sugar 4x a day and was never near the numbers I had to be below.

yup 2 out of 4 numbers is considered GD in my dr's office. I even argued because one number was off by 1 and they were like you still have it.
