No salt diet
I am retaining a lot of fluid (my BP is fine and no protein in my urine) so my doc said no salt. I am drawing a complete blank on types of foods to eat that are low sodium. My breakfasts are fine, just need ideas for lunch and dinner.

No salt diet
We usually season all our meats now with just plain Italian seasoning, no salt.

Re: No salt diet
Maybe she meant no salt added? But I would stay away from anything packaged...and stick to fresh food when possible.

this one is hard because if your buying any packaged foo or even canned items to include in food you are preparing, its usually loaded with salt. its actually easier to eat without sugar than it is to eat without salt. I would double check and see if your OB meant to extra salt added, like the pp said. Don't add salt to anything you cook with and stay away from like deli meats and fast foods

Yes he meant not to add it but I am looking at ways to decrease my sodium intake period. I was never a salt happy person but going out to eat will be a pain now. Just trying to think of meals that aren't high sodium.
ETS: I don't eat many packaged foods to begin with so want lower the sodium in what I am normally eating without losing the flavor.

Re: No salt diet
try using more herbs and spices instead of salt. i think mrs dash makes salt free seasonings, not sure if they have added ingredients though.

Re: No salt diet
Are you drinking enough water? Water helps to flush out sodium.
Foods to watch that are high in salt other than the obvious are anything processed, canned, frozen meals, packaged foods, condiments, vegetable juice, deli meats, soups, marinades, BBQ sauce, soy sauce......
