Potty training and leaving the house?
What do you do? This is the part I am most afraid of. Do you let them use public bathrooms?

I have DS at least try to go before leaving. But yes, I let him use public restrooms.

yup, go before we leave the house, use a public bathroom if you must, keep a little training potty in the back of the minivan! Keep changes of clothing in the car too.

Try to go before leaving house.
I have a travel potty in the trunk. I would suggest to my DD to try again.
If she had to go while in a public place like the mall or something then we use the restrooms. I have disposable seat covers. And I hold her over the seat.
As much as I skeeve public restrooms, I don't want her to be afraid to say she needs to use the potty
