Another shower question!
I’m sorry…I know this question has been asked SOOO many times; but how involved are you in the planning of your shower?? Who is throwing your shower for you?
I originally was going to plan my own shower; but then after getting really upset with my Mom; I asked her to just step up and please do it for me (with the help of my Aunt). My Mother originally didn't want to throw it for me but I asked her to please do it so i woudln't have to plan it myself (she's not a party planning person). I still feel I’m going to have to do SO much and it won’t be a shower thrown for me; but a shower I’m planning for myself still. I really want to limit my involvement but I’m just getting the feeling if I don’t start some planning now (hall quotes which I’ve been doing) then it will be left until the last minute.

I am VERY involved. My mom is a lot like your mom - not a planner and didn't want to throw a shower. In fact, she said she'll pay for the restaurant and that's all the involvement she wants. I called around for quotes and picked the restaurant I wanted, I ordered and mailed out the invitations and I'm doing the favors as well. My sister is helping out with decorations and the cake and my SIL is planning the games. No one is really hosting the shower.

I helped find the restaurant and compile the guest list. My mom and my sister planned everything else. It was perfect!
I am only 14 weeks and my mom is already talking about a sprinkle. I am trying to hold her back!

i figure with twins on the way and a bigger registry we decided to just pay for it ourselves
my bff's were pissed lol but nothing they can do about it

I planned, paid for, ordered & sent in invites for my baby showerr with DS. My aunt made me put her name as RSVP, she handled that, favors and games.

My mom is handling it. I think My SILs are helping but I really had ZERO input and that's fine with me. Im just glad Im having a shower.

If I were in your situation, I would consider hiring a planner and let them do it all. Give them your budget (or whoever is throwing the showers budget)
It's too much on you to have to keep doing this and too much emotionally to make your mom do something she isn't comfortable.
I hope you find a solution soon

I think it's too advanced for me to tell, but I'm sure I'm planning my own since I cannot trust other people to put together something I would like. I remember, I gave up my bridal shower planning, and although I'm thankful, it wasn't to my taste.
I don't think there's anything wrong by being too involved with it.

I'm pretty involved. My mom and sister were initially handling, but I asked to be included and then proceeded to overrule what they initially had in mind. I then picked out the place and date along with my mom. I actually just ordered the invites (though I had them shipped to my sister's house since she will be sending them and managing the replies). I thought I was going to handle my centerpieces, but my plan has fallen through because the main component is no longer available for purchase, so I think I'll just hand that over to my other sister (she is very creative and has great taste). My sisters, mom and I all agreed on the favors together. I will help decide on the menu, along with my mom and I'll probably handle the decorations too.
I'm a little bit of a control freak when it comes to event planning and I really enjoy this stuff. My mom and sisters know me and are happy to have me involved (not that they had a choice). My sister has sort of played the role of my drill sergeant, setting deadlines for when I have to register and order invites etc.
We all peacefully coexist.
My mom is paying for everything.
