When to stop dream feedings?
I've been dream feeding DD for a few weeks and it's working out great. She has her last feeding at 7, goes down at 9, and then I feed her around 10:30. She then sleeps until 9am. I think she'd be okay without it sleepwise, but without that extra feeding she would only have 5 feedings a day. Is that enough? She's 3 months and EBF. If she doesn't wake herself for the extra feeding will she just make up for that during the day? Are 5 feedings enough at 3 months?
She has her 3 month check up tomorrow so I'll talk to the Dr. about it but I want to make sure to think it through beforehand. How did you know when to stop? Also, how many feedings did DC have at this age?

Why don't you feed her at 9 right before she goes to bed?

Unless you're faced with weight issues, you should stop dream feeding immediately, as soon as they're sleeping through the night.

I couldn't agree more! Dream feeding my son created a bad habit. He started waking MORE because he was so conditioned to being fed. Start dropping the ounces so that her body adjusts. I personally don't think dream feeding helps a baby. YOu may just have a good sleeper and she may sleep regardless.

At 2 months, she was bordering on "too skinny" even though the doctor could see that she looks perfectly healthy. He actually remeasured her bc he knew she looked okay. That's why I've really hesitated on letting her only eat 5 times in a day. She's ebf, so I don't know how many ounces she's taking or if she'll compensate without this last feeding. Hopefully when she's weighed tomorrow it will set my mind at ease.

Re: When to stop dream feedings?
I would definitely stop the dream feeding and just feed her again at 9 before she goes down for the night. DD is EBF and she is at 5 feedings a day. She started this at about 4 months old. Every baby is totally different! It's not the amount of feedings per day that matters. All babies drink entirely different amounts. DD #1 never drank more than 4oz of pumped milk. DD#2 drinks 6oz and would have more if I let her! So don't get hung up on the # of feedings. As long as she is gaining weight she is fine.
