another potty training question...

Is it absolutely crazy to give it a try at a year old?
I haven't read any books & I don't know anything about potty training so I should probably look into it a little but I figured I'd ask on here first.
I can always tell when DD is about to go #2 so can I just throw her on her little potty? Is there any harm trying so soon? I don't want to confuse her or make it worse in the long run. Any opinions would help, thanks!

i dont think it hurts to try introducing the potty that young. you could definitely start with taking her to the potty when you know she is about to poop. around 18 - 20 months i would try potty training all the way.

Re: another potty training question...

We got a potty this weekend so I'm going to try to put her on it when I see that she's trying to go. We'll see what happens. Any one have a successful story of potty training for me?Chat Icon

Re: another potty training question...

My DD was 15 months when we were potty training my 3year old DS and she must have heard us talk about it so much she wanted to see what it was all about. One day she came up to me and said pee pee potty so I took her in the bathroom sat her on the potty seat and she went. She's been using the potty everyday since (she's 18 months now) . She's not potty trained overnight but during the day as long as we are home she will tell whoever is home with her when she has to go. I do not see the harm in starting early. I have to mention my DD is twin and her brother has no interest at all. He said potty to me a few times over the past few weeks and I'd put him on but he'd just swing his legs and then say all done. I think he just wanted to try what his twin was doing.
